007 - When Health Issues Change Your Life, How Do You Deal?

This week on Stages of She, we discuss a heavier topic – our personal health issues and advice on not letting them be debilitating.

First, we jump into our weekly wisdom after admitting we all could be in better moods! Hey – it was a Monday after all. We remind each other that even though every day isn’t perfect and may not go as planned, you have to suit up and show up to the best of your ability. We also cover sunscreen and give everyone a reminder to prepare for summer and protect your skin – because, well – Sara did not!

Our conversation around health is vulnerable but we are sharing our health issues and journeys to hopefully empower our listeners to advocate for themselves. Kristina kicks-off the conversation with a bit of an obscure health issue she had come up the day we recorded. She also shares about her serious and scary experience with Crohn’s disease. Then, Sara opens up about her autoimmune disorder, Hashimoto’s, which is still something she’s learning how to navigate. Kristina gives advice and we all encourage each other to be an advocate when visiting doctors.

Lis had a life-threatening Melanoma diagnosis at 23 and shares how it changed her outlook on life negatively in the beginning, but over time, she changed her perspective, and decided to not let it take control of her life.

Overall, we inspire each other and everyone listening to stay on top of their health and to advocate for yourself! After listening, we want to hear from you - share your comments and own health learnings on Instagram or Facebook.
